About the Role:
Term
As a member of the board of directors you will serve a staggered, three-year term where a portion of the board is elected each year, ensuring a mix of experienced leadership and fresh perspectives at all times.
Governance and Oversight:
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of PLCDC. Your oversight will ensure that the organization fulfills its mission and goals.
You will have the opportunity to establish policies and make major decisions regarding the organization's direction, finances, and programs.
Fiduciary Duties:
Board members have fiduciary duties to act in the best interest of the organization. This includes ensuring financial health and compliance with laws and regulations.
Hiring and Evaluation:
The Board is typically involved in hiring, evaluating, and, if necessary, terminating the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Executive Director, who manages the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Volunteer Position:
This is a volunteer position. While some organizations may offer compensation, our Board members serve on a volunteer basis, driven by their commitment to community service.
Committees:
The Board may form committees (e.g., finance, governance, fundraising) to focus on specific areas and report back to the full Board.
